Sherry Grogan

APRN, PMHNP-BC

Sherry Grogan APRN, RN, PMHNP-BC is a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) with more than 10 years of experience. She has extensive experience across multiple professional and academic domains, including inpatient and outpatient clinical practice, professional leadership, nursing education, and scholarly writing.

Ms. Grogan earned her psychiatric practitioner degree from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston. Prior to graduate school, she served as a secondary school nurse and became a PMHNP as a response to the shortage of mental health clinicians for adolescents. Since graduation, she has worked as a psychiatric consult for transplant patients, as well as a provider at Houston’s Menninger Clinic, one of the nation’s premier mental health facilities. She spent 10 years in clinical research studying mood disorders and has published multiple research articles and book chapters. Ms. Grogan has also presented at several conferences on topics including psychiatry and heart disease, ADHD, transplant psychiatry and delirium.

For the past 9 years, she has precepted and mentored PMHNP students from Texas Tech University, University of Texas, and others. She is also a founding board member of Psychiatric Advanced Practice Nurses of Texas (PAPNTX), the first organization created to unify PMHNPs across the state.

Ms. Grogan is the founder and owner of Synapse Psychiatry in Houston, where she treats patients with mood, anxiety, ADHD and thought disorders, as well as those with comorbid medical conditions. She takes pride in serving the mental health needs of her community.

In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family in Missouri City.

Vita Chung

DNP, RN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Dr. Vita Chung is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) with over ten years (as of 2021) of nursing experience in Psychiatric Mental Health. She received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), Master of Science in Nursing (MSN), and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degrees from the UT Health San Antonio, formerly named the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. Dr. Chung completed her clinical training in a wide range of psychiatric mental health conditions across the lifespan and strives to provide up-to-date evidence-based treatment options. Dr. Chung is capable to provide psychiatric mental health services in both English and Mandarin Chinese. Her practice philosophy is to provide individualized patient-centered care and partner with patients and patients’ caretakers/family members in shared decision making to achieve desired outcomes. Dr. Chung looks forward to working with you!

 

Mark Lidasan

APRN, PMHNP-BC

Mark is an exceptional psychiatric medical provider with almost two decades of quality experience in patient care. He is a licensed Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) which enables him to provide an extensive mental health care, includes diagnosing and medication management. He is not only a board-certified in Mental Health but also in Medical-Surgical and Critical Care. Mark has a Master’s of Science in Mental Health and a Bachelors in Nursing and Biology. He was awarded the prestigious Excellence in Nursing award from the Good Samaritan Foundation of Texas for demonstrating a passion for his profession and exhibiting excellence in teaching, mentoring, leadership, and service.  

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), he believes in integrated mental health care to optimize your potential. His compassion for you will help him continually seek-out the best treatment available. Mark will provide your care through patient-provider partnership and mutual respect to achieve positive outcomes. You can expect him to support your journey and celebrate your success. Early on, Mark realized the great need to serve those who are often underserved and misunderstood in the mental health community.

Ashley Bednorz

MSN, APRN, PMHNP-BC

Ashley Bednorz is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner licensed to provide mental health care across the lifespan. She graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree. Upon graduating, she worked as a staff nurse and charge nurse in the Neurocritical ICU at Memorial Hermann Hospital for 5 years. It was during this time that she became more aware of the lack of resources available for patients with mental health concerns. She then transitioned to working at the Menninger Clinic as an inpatient staff nurse on the Adolescent Treatment Program, where she has worked for the last 3 years. During this time, she was exposed to several different therapeutic modalities, led group therapies, and received training on DBT skills. She received her Master of Science in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2023 and became licensed as a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner soon after. She is passionate about delivering evidence-based care to clients and their families. She believes patient-centered care is the most effective way to establish therapeutic trust and to achieve the client’s defined goals. In her free time, Ashley enjoys traveling and spending time in nature with her family and two dogs. 

 

Dr. Jennifer Reck-Gordy

PhD

Dr. Reck-Gordy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology and Psychology. She then received her doctorate degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of North Texas, where she conducted research on caregiver burden and PTSD. She completed her APA-accredited doctoral internship at the Federal Correctional Institution in Fort Worth, with rotations in trauma recovery, substance abuse, and behavioral medicine. As a psychologist, she has practiced in various mental health settings, including a state psychiatric and forensic facility and geriatric settings. She has also supervised doctoral students and other mental health practitioners. Dr. Reck-Gordy has worked in private practice in Missouri City since 2016. She is currently licensed by the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists.

Dr. Reck-Gordy currently provides individual therapy services to adults. She has special interests in trauma, PTSD, psychological assessment, depression, personality disorders, and anxiety disorders. She also values working with military veterans, and she currently conducts Compensation and Pension evaluations for the VA. Dr. Reck-Gordy believes that a strong therapeutic alliance between the therapist and client is the foundation for positive therapeutic change. While she primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral techniques, she also integrates techniques from ACT, DBT, mindfulness, and sensorimotor psychotherapy into her practice. Dr. Reck-Gordy believes in meeting clients where they are and engaging in techniques best suited for each individual.  

 

Abhi Rangarajan

MHA, CHFP, CLSSGB

Abhi Rangarajan is a healthcare administrator with expertise in
healthcare operations and finance, patient experience, and process improvement. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology-Exercise Science from the University of Houston in 2016 and top of his class with a Master of Healthcare Administration from Texas Woman's University-Houston in 2019. Abhi is a Certified Healthcare Financial Professional (CHFP) and a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt (LSSGB).

Abhi's progressive healthcare leadership experience spans both nonprofit and for-profit healthcare sectors such as MD Anderson Cancer Center, UTHealth Houston, and a private-practice physician-owned dermatology clinic. He enjoys promoting a team-oriented and collaborative work environment that focuses on person-centered care and innovation. In his free time, Abhi enjoys watching sports (go Rockets, Texans, and Astros!), traveling, and spending time with his family. 

 

Miah Jenkins

BA

Miah Jenkins is our Medical Assistant.  She graduated from University of Texas San Antonio majoring in Medical Humanities.  She is new to the mental health field but has a passion for helping others and seeing people smile.
